Three of you shared the table and two of you did not drink. Split evenly and the round lands on everybody; split by hand and somebody is reading a receipt out loud at the end of the evening. This is the third option.

Yes, and this is the part that matters at a table. The link goes to the group chat; anybody who opens it gives a name and starts tapping. No account, no app store, no waiting for four people to download something while the card machine is out.
The bill will not finish. An unclaimed line has to be answered — either somebody takes it or the payer says it was everybody’s — because a receipt that quietly lost a line is how a balance nobody agrees with gets made. Until then nothing is in anybody’s balance at all.
While it is open, the group screen says so: being claimed, how many people have finished, and how much is not yet counted. When it finishes it becomes one ordinary expense, split exactly, with the claims kept — so the receipt can still say “you claimed the steak and the salad, and this is your share of the service”.
